Yoga for Resilience (4-Week Class Series)
with Marie Barranco
Date: Saturdays, April 8, 15, 22, and 29, 2023 Time: 9:30 - 10:30 AM
Location: Normal Heights - Outdoor Courtyard
Resilience is about strengthening our capacity to navigate hardship, chronic stress, and traumatic events so that the challenges and waves of life affect us but don’t sink us. We are all wired for resilience, but our nervous systems can experience dysregulation. All of us can benefit from learning tools that help us to not only “bounce back from” but transform through hardship for a more connected and present life.
Yoga for Resilience is a four-week series offering trauma-informed movement and meditation practices designed to support building resilience and greater self-regulation both on and off the mat. In this series you will:
- Be held with an understanding that we are all affected by trauma and chronic stress, as well as the belief that we all have the capacity to heal and transform
- Experience and learn somatic practices to support the nervous system and self-regulation
- Connect with yourself, a small community, and nature
- Receive tools to support you in navigating the stress of everyday life
Each week we’ll focus on a particular theme to support resilience-building: grounding, centering, orienting to present time, and connection. Together, we’ll move through a 60-minute trauma-informed outdoor gentle yoga class with lots of options, choice, curiosity, and space to notice physical sensations as we move. All are welcome.
Bring your yoga mat, cozy layers suitable for an outdoor practice, water bottle, and any props that would help you to feel supported. Props are also available for use at the studio.
This is an in-person event. We’re so looking forward to practicing in community together.
